Aromatase Inhibitors

Content written by Irwin Goldstein MD

Aromatase inhibitors act to increase serum testosterone by causing an increase in LH, which leads to greater production of T by the testicles, and also by reducing the conversion of T to estrogen. Their use is off-label. One commonly used agent is anastrozole, and the usual dose in men is 1 mg daily.
